Build Details & Information

Hello! I am Brother Chris and I have been playing Lost Ark since its western release in February 2022. This is meant to be an introductory guide to quickly get you up to speed for a raid/pve Combat Readiness or Blue Gunlancer, so you can face tank everything and have a nice relaxing stroll through Arkesia.

Class Introduction

Gunlancer is a very different class to most in Lost Ark, boasting one of the only classes that has a back hop spacebar rather than a roll/dash forward - this can be off putting at first but after awhile you get used to just flipping your cursor away from wherever you want to hop to. It is also a very tanky class that provides great utility via shielding and stagger + weakpoint strength.

Pros
  • Very tanky
  • Can sit in most mechanics
  • Great utility, wanted in parties
  • Unparalleled stagger
  • Amazing weakpoint
Cons
  • Very slow
  • Low damage
  • Backhop spacebar

Rotation

Combat Readiness like many other classes in the game has a very priority based system. Bash is your main damage amplifying ability with Dash Upper Fire being your secondary, weaker buff. Shout of Hatred is your party synergy and it is quite a good one at that, make sure to weave it in wherever possible - it also generates a ton of shield meter but keep in mind you must not be in defensive stance when you use it as if you are currently in defensive stance you cannot gain meter from anything. Typically you want to try to Bash before your heavy hitting abilities which will be Guardian's Thunderbolt and Leap Attack.

An optimal start of fight rotation would look something like this.

  1. Shout of Hatred
  2. Bash
  3. Leap Attack
  4. Guardian's Thunderbolt
  5. Shield Bash
  6. Bash
  7. Shield Charge

Just keep rotating one of your damage amplifiers with your attacks and you will generally do fine, Shout of Hatred pretty much on cooldown for both the shield meter and synergy uptime - Guardian's Protection also provides party wide debuff immunity and it will fill your shield meter entirely even while you are in defensive stance. Nelasia's Energy is a very powerful shield for your party and yourself, use it liberally.

Engravings

Combat Readiness Gunlancer has a few options for differing setups. The setup I have listed is going to be much cheaper than a level 1 Combat Readiness + level 2 Adrenaline build though that is the best setup and if you desire to spare no expense for your lancer then you want to follow a setup that looks something like this.

4x3 +2 +1 setup: level 1 Combat Readiness > level 2 Adrenaline > Grudge > Barricade > Cursed Doll > Stabilized Status

If you want to do a 4x3 +2 +1 setup but cannot afford adrenaline, I would suggest going with the build I listed in my guide but you can swap level 2 Adrenaline with level 2 Spirit Absorption if you so desire.

Engraving priority for the main build would be something like Combat Readiness > Grudge > Adrenaline > Barricade > Cursed Doll

You can also sub out Cursed Doll for Stabilized Status which may be cheaper for similar performance.

Stats

Stats for blue lancer are going to be full spec and crit on neck.

Specialization: 1600
Crit: 850

Is what I have on my Combat Readiness Gunlancer, this is with relic accessories and a bracelet and all potions unlocked from horizontal content.

Relic Set

For a Combat Readiness lancer we go with the Nightmare flower set as it fixes our mana issues and provides us with some nice flat damage %

Tripods

The main optional tripods you can change are on nelasias energy but for this one I only suggest you do it in very controlled circumstances - and that is changing Survive to Leadership, the reason being in certain circumstances you can help a class unload their burst incredibly quickly if coordinated properly but you are giving up a massive part of your utility for it. For general content I do not suggest this.
The other more common swap is dropping Effectiveness for Shout of Purification turning it into a cleanse which can be very powerful in circumstances where a cleanse can be useful.

Skills

The main flex skill you have is Dash Upper Fire being replaced with either Shield Shock or Surge Cannon. Dash Upper Fire is an amazing counter, great weakpoint and impeccable stagger so I typically leave it on as I play my lancer to be more utility rather than DPS however you can swap Shield Shock in for more damage, likewise with Surge Cannon if you prefer.

Card Sets

Blue lancer does lack a bit of crit so Lostwind Cliff is a good filler set until you can get old faithful and run Light of Salvation at 18 awakening or above.
